Cover crops, also known as green manure, help cover and improve soils that aren’t being cultivated for production. Cover Crops also improve tilth. Tilth refers to the structure, or physical suitability for planting. Wednesday, September 22nd marks the fall equinox. Shortening daylight is especially more noticeable this time of year. One of the most common questions we get here at the Snohomish and Monroe Co-Op is, “Why are my chickens laying fewer eggs?”
Chickens are a fun and rewarding way to provide your family with delicious, fresh eggs. Chickens are natural foragers with instincts to eat insects and weeds, actually helping with your feed budget. In a large enough grazing area, the grass will love the aeration and fertilization that chickens provide.
While the summer is full of sun and fun, the outdoor activity can often result in some scrapes, scratches, cuts and bumps. While serious injuries should be taken to the vet, healing and more minor injuries can be treated at home! Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) is an essential additive for every diesel powered vehicle made after 2010. The EPA standards changed in 2010 when they lowered the acceptable amount of Nitrogen Oxides allowed to be emitted from a vehicle. To meet these standards the auto industry adopted DEF as the solution.
