Heating your home with wood is still a very common practice. Whether you have a wood burning stove, a fireplace insert, a wood pellet stove or a traditional fire place, Snohomish and Monroe Co-op stores have everything you need to stay warm and cozy this season.
Both the Snohomish and Monroe stores carry the following items:
Burning Pellets
Clean Burn, Olympus, and Golden fire.
Because wood pellets are sourced from sawmill by-products, they are renewable and made with recycled materials, which is always a bonus! You can buy them by the bag or by the ton. Each bag is 40 pounds each. One pallet of Burning Pellets is 50 bags (2,000 pounds). When you buy a full pallet, we give you a 10% discount!
Compressed Logs
We offer two great options of Compressed logs. North Idaho Energy logs burn cleaner and hotter than traditional fire wood. The high density and low moisture allow them to pack a whopping 8600 BTU’s per pound!
Homefire Logs are also available. These logs can burn for up to 12 hours each. They have a patented process that compresses wood waste so densely that the logs will burn red hot giving off 8300 BTU’s per pound. This process also allows Homefire logs stay together without falling apart and have an extremely low moisture rate of only 2%! Homefire logs produce the most efficient burn available today in a manufactured log.
Just like the bags of pellets you can buy one log or a whole ton. North Idaho Energy logs come 240 to a pallet / ton and Homefire logs come 380 to a pallet / ton. And yes you get the same 10% discount for every full pallet of logs that you buy.
If you do not have a vehicle that can transport a full pallet of logs or bags of pellets, we offer a local deliver service and can bring them right to you! Just ask your cashier for more information when you’re in next.
Firewood & Accessories
Our Snohomish store also carries bundles of dry seasoned firewood. The Co-op always tries to source products locally as often as possible. This is one of many examples. We buy these locally from a vendor in Marysville.
The Snohomish location also carries log racks to store your firewood in and canvas firewood bundle bags to carry it from your pile or rack back inside.
If you have a fire going in your home, you should absolutely consider having a fire extinguisher nearby just in case. Both our Snohomish and Monroe locations carry an easy to use option for you.
In order to help get your fire started, both the Snohomish and Monroe location carry a great assortment of fire starters including Super Cedar disks:
Bear Mountain disks:
Lightning Rods:
Fire starting Gel:
Locally Sourced Grizzly fire starter cups in two sizes:
And the E-Z Lite fire starter chips:
All of these fore starters can be used in your home, at the beach, camping and even in your backyard fire pits!
In order to help maintain a clean chimney you can pay someone to come out and do it for you, or you can try to “sweep it” yourself. An easier alternative is to use a creosote sweeping log. These are super simple. Just determine whether you need one or two logs (most avergae chimneys will only require one log) and burn them without any other materials or emebers in the fireplace. The way these work, is they release additives via the smoke they produce. This creates a chemical reaction with the creosote that has built up in your chimey. In about 2 weeks this will cause the creosote to become brittle and drop from the walls of your chimey. This is often in the form of a powder. You can still use your fireplace while all of this is happening. It’s a very convenient way to keep your chimney clean, but it is still a good practice to have your chimney inspected by a professional periodically.
We also offer ash cans and shovels to help with the removal of all the leftover debris you see accumulating in the bottom of your fireplace or insert.
We also offer 3 sizes of the Airmax Ecofan. This is a heat powered stove fan. Simply place it on top of your wood stove, and as the stove gets hot, it activates the fan and helps distribute the warm air throughout your wood stove is generating.
